BMW Group Sites

Quick History
BMW a German based auto, cycle, and engine manufacturer acquired Glas in the 1960's. In 1994 they acquired Rover Group (formerly British Leyland). Not having great success in acheiving their ambitious plans for the Rover Group, Land Rover is being sold to Ford, and MG/Rover is sold (or being paid to take it) to the Phoenix Consortium led by John Towers (formerly of Rover). BMW keeps the new MINI and the rights to the Triumph & Riley names.
VW acquired Rolls-Royce/Bentley production, marketing of Bentley, but BMW now owns the rights to the Rolls-Royce name and the motorcar part of RR will come under BMW control in 2003. BMW is a partner with Rolls-Royce Aircraft Engines.

One of the more interesting ad campaigns is BMW's Independent Film Series. Short action films directed by some of the best in the film industry and starring, of course, BMW vehicles. www.bmwfilms.com
