DaimlerChrysler SitesFormed by the merger of Daimler-Benz and Chrysler in 1998, DC now owns a 37% stake in Mitsubishi motors, and a 10% stake in Hyundai/Kia motors. Of the five largest automakers, DC is the only one which does not have at least one platform which is used to build more than one million vehicles per year.Platform consolidation is going to figure heavily as the DC empire seeks to cut costs. Just announced, DaimlerChrysler will invest heavily into Beijing Futian, (www.futian.com.cn) a Chinese truck manufacturer. This rounds out DC's Asia plans, which also include arrangements with Mitsubishi-FUSO, and Hyundai Truck in the heavy duty truck market.
